Let's know Can Yaman's biography a little more. Who is he? How has his life been? Family? School? Jobs? This is a compilation of all the info I've thought to be the most relevant. I hope you enjoy it!

Can Yaman's family

Can was born on November 8th, 1989. Even though Turkish (born in Istanbul) his family is of Albanian origin. His grandfather emigrated to Turkey from Kosovo, while his grandmother arrived from North Macedonia. He's an only child and his parents divorced when he was 4 years old.

He would stay at his mum's on the weekdays and spend the weekends with his dad. About them, he's said: "My mum has a major in Literature. She's a disciplined woman, she starts the day at 6 am. On the other hand, my father is a very intelligent but very relaxed man, who likes to have fun."

Seems clear that the divorce situation was never a problem to shower Can with love, and for him to stay close to both of his parents.

"I grew up in a very loving and happy family. I was a child known by my constant happiness and laughter. They never made me feel like a child from a divorced family."

One thing I love the most is seeing how his dad always travel with him when it comes to Can promoting his TV shows. Or his mum's loving corner dedicated to Can at her home (it's been seen in some IG pictures). And how both of them are always uploading Can's content to their Instagrams accounts. Proud parents, as it should be :)

Can's younger days

He studied at Bilfen Kolej up until middle school, and after that he attended the Italian High School. He's actually said that he spent most of his teenage days talking italian and surronded by italian friends. Even though his days were long - get up at 5:30 to go to school, basketball practices at 19:30 and not arriving home until midnight, just to start all over again next day - he managed to finish his high school days as a top student, with an average grade of 92,56.

Later on, he went to Ohio University (USA) with a student exchange programme and then came back and graduated in 2012 from Law Department at Yeditepe University (Istanbul). He studied there because it was close to home and thanks to a basketball grant.

Nowadays, Yaman has an attorney office along with two of his fellow students in law school, even though he doesn't work as a lawyer anymore. Fun fact: he used to write some articles about law, and here you can read one of them (in Turkish)

Can's passion for sports started at a very young age, specially his love for basketball. He's admited loving risky sports, but having to stop practicing them when he became an actor. No producer wants their star to break an arm or a leg in the middle of filming, right? ;)

Can Yaman, the actor

Can says he's always been restless, and when he entered the acting world, his dad wasn't even surprised, while her mother was a little in shock and asked him if he was sure about it.

So, how does a brand new lawyer become an actor?

Well, while working as an attorney, Can was already taking acting classes as a hobby: "I thought it would help me with diction and articulation in the courthouses, and so I was inclined to improve myself. But everywhere I went, people kept saying, “You're an artist, you should be in a movie, what are you doing in a courthouse?" Even a judge said it once. So the universe began to work and when I believed it myself, acting happened quickly."

That's how, after working at a big firm for 6 months in 2014, he left on vacation and never went back. Apparently, a friend of Can introduced him to his managers: Cüneyt Sayil (who also became his proffessional acting coach) and İlker Bilgi. And after that, the rest is history.

In his early days as an actor (May 2015), he took part of a theater reading festival in favor of people with sight problems, called "görmesem de olur" ("Even if I can't see") at Tiyatro Laboratuvarı. Out of the 11 theatre writers whose scripts were read, 6 of them were blind. (I love this)

I wish we had some videos of the festival, but I haven't found any. So here are some pictures shared by Can himself at his Twitter's account.

Back to his acting career on TV, Can Yaman's first job as was in "Gönül Isleri" (2014), where he admitted to have learned a lot just by listening. Fun fact: to play the character, he had to lose weight so he didn't look so muscular and had such broad shoulders. They also cut his hair and made him grow a moustache, so he wouldn't look so attractive.

He has worked for Fox Turkey, TRT1 and Star TV. His biggest hit until now has been Erkenci Kus, making Can the recipient of international recognition and many awards - you can check them in the TV shows and Awards page.

After wrapping up Erkenci Kus in August 2019, and having to go to the military in January 2020 for 21 days, Can is taking this time to rest and occasionally to travel to different countries he's been invited to, promoting himself as an actor. Rome, Athens and Cannes were the hosting cities, where he had no qualms to get in the middle of loving crowds of fans (sometimes too loving, LOL)

Oh, and is Can Yaman a model? Well, not a model per se, but yeah, he has taken some interesting photoshoots during the last years, since he decided being an actor, that we sure love!

Social conscience

In 2016, Can supported the OCED Festival for Children with Autism, and he left this message encouraging people to attend.
And speaking of being a model, in april 2017 he did participate in a fashion show, “Kürkünü çıkar, vicdanını giy” (Take off yout fur, wear your conscience) and you can see Yaman during rehearsals (at the very end) and at the show (also at the end of the video)
In 2018, he was part of the #lösev1998 campaign to help kids with leukemia. You can see his video here.
In 2019 Can Yaman also supported #kansersizyasamseninelinde, "a life free of cancer is in your hands". His message is here.
And was invited to the annual charity gala "Umut Yeşerten Şarkılar" (Songs that feed hope), which aims to bring nature to children through songs. Video here.
Before that, he took part in a basket game organized by the Turkish Federation of basketball, in favor of people with disabilities. You can see Can Yaman playing basketball here.
